1. How To Get To Stradbroke Island
Stradbroke Ferries departs from Cleveland daily with the ferry trip taking approximately 45 minutes before arriving at Dunwich on Stradbroke Island.
You can book your ferry on the Stradbroke Ferries website and also view the daily ferry timetable.
2. Do I Need Any Permits?
You will need a camping permit for beach camping and a vehicle access permit if driving on the beach at Stradbroke Island. Vehicle permits can be purchased through the Minjerribah Camping (North Stradbroke Island camping) website.
As at June 2020, the fees for these vehicle access permits are as follows;
Vehicle Access Permits:
- Up to one month ($52.75 per vehicle)
- More than one month (up to 1 year) ($158.00 per vehicle).

North Stradbroke Island camping costs vary depending on where you will be camping and what type of campsite you will be booking.
Camping fees also differ based on whether it is on-peak or off- peak seasons.

5. What To Do On North Stradbroke Island
Swimming, Surfing & Scuba Diving
North Stradbroke Island is the perfect spot for swimming, surfing & scuba diving holidays as the beaches are vast, the water clear on sunny blue skied days.
Popular surfing beaches include Cylinder Beach or Main Beach.
If you’re a keen scuba-diver, you can get face-to-face with sea life at Shag Rock or Flat Rock.
North Stradbroke Island also features beautiful lakes that you can visit for a swim, walk or barbeques. Brown Lake is only 3.5km from Dunwich & is perfect for a dip on those hot summer days.
Watching Wales
Watch whales at Stradbroke Island from elevated viewing points between June & November each year as this island is located at Queensland’s most easterly point.
The best spots to view the whales are from the top of the cliffs from Cylinder Beach to North Gorge.

MICAT ferries departs from the Port of Brisbane daily, embarking at the Tangalooma Wrecks at Moreton Island.
You can book your ferry on the Moreton Island Adventures website with a few easy clicks.
2. Do I Need Any Permits?
You will need a camping permit and a vehicle access permit for Moreton Island. Vehicle permits can be purchased as you book your ferry, or alternatively you can book this through this website.
These permits can also be purchased on the MICAT ferry if required.
As at March 2020, the fees for these vehicle access permits are as follows;

4. How Much Does Camping Cost?
As Moreton Island is a national park, the camping fees is minimal which is why it is such an affordable camping location for families. The camping permits for Moreton Island are as follows;
- $6.65 per person per night, or $26.60 per family per night;
- $3.65 per person per night. This applies to students and accompanying adults on approved educational excursions.
